As human beings we don't just float in space and time, nor are we completely independent of the surrounding world. Each person has his/her own points of contact where he/she wants to change life  in regards to sustainability or environmental protection. One person might be touched by the amounts of plastic that pollutes our oceans and might decide to be mindful with his own usage of plastic. Another person might be forced to think about energy concepts while building his own house and decide to invest into some sustainable solution. A third person might change diet due to health issues and choose to avoid processed food.

Whatever the reason might be - a specific point of contact is needed. There's a need for a moment of understanding that nature plays a role in every one's life. And that each action has consequences for all of us.

And that's where art can help. No matter if it is film, theatre, painting or literature - they are all able to create moments of resonance for any reader, film viewer or theatre visitor. With art people see, feel and understand the connection of any subject with the personal life.

In the world of literature "Nature Writing" is especially suitable to create certain aha-moments. It connects the reader - in case they really resonate with a text - and brings nature into the reader's consciousness.

It's important to notice that the Karst is one of the most complex and diverse landscapes and ecological structures, and that it is, because of the leading - and mostly stereotypical - narratives not that visible.

We will present a scientific up-to-date picture of the Karst (caves, karst fields) and discuss environmental protections of the karst values. And we will even attempt to find an answer to the search for identity through the karst landscape.

The idea of the gathering is to bring our participants together in conversations and exchange of experiences to give space to complement each other for a new image of a world that could be less reductionist than the existing one.

Welcome!
